My friend really liked the first river box I made and commissioned me to make one for her wedding. This is the second box I made in this style, and it turned out even better than the first!
The main box is made from spalted California black oak that I harvested from my property in the Santa Cruz mountains. The sides are alder wood. My friend originally requested some old redwood I had, and I made a version with the redwood sides but it didn’t fit quite right. So, I swapped them out for alder.
The river is done with a blue-green color from Black Diamond Pigments. The engraving is a copper pigment and done with my CNC machine.
A few more details about this box can be see on my blog, Corbin’s Treehouse: Blue River Box.
