This piece was a commission. I don’t take on a lot of commission pieces, but I wanted to do at least one more in this style. The river box is made from spalted oak wood on the top and sides. The wood was harvested from a dead tree in the Santa Cruz mountains. The sides are made from alder wood. The white river is “Ghost Satin Violet” from Black Diamond Pigments and the engraving was filled with a copper pigment.
The dimensions are 12″ long by 7.5″ deep and 4″ tall, 1/2″ thick sides.
Finished with a hard wax oil – Osmo Polyx in satin.
