This bowl is made out of two pieces of California black oak with translucent “ghost red” epoxy drips on the side. The drips shimmer red in the light. The wood comes from the Santa Cruz mountains and was harvested from a tree that fell down during a storm.
This is a one of a kind art piece bowl; I’ll be creating a limited number of these with various different types of woods and epoxy colors.
The bowl is finished with a food safe polymerized linseed oil (Tried and True brand “Danish Oil”).
It takes roughly 10 hours of machining time, and 4 hours of hand work to complete this bowl.
Dimensions: about 8 1/2″ from the bottom of the heart to the tip of the round bits, 8 1/2″ wide at the widest part, and about 2 1/4″ tall. It is about the size of a cereal bowl.
