A custom wooden heart box, made out of two native hardwoods: cherry and maple. It has a very organic, curvy shape and the base flows into the lid design. The bottom is cherry with a wave cut into the side all around the base. On top of that is maple wood. The color of the cherry and maple is very similar, so the wave design is very subtle. The lid is made entirely out of one piece of maple.
This is the second heart box I’ve made out of an all wood design.
The size is about 8″ from the bottom of the heart to the tip of the round parts. The width is about 8-1/4″ wide at the widest part, and about 2-3/4″ tall with the lid on. The box inside is about the size of a large cereal bowl.
The box has a slight satin finish to emphasize the beauty of the wood.
I made this box in my small backyard workshop located in Truckee, California near Lake Tahoe. The cherry and maple wood came from a local wood supplier in Reno, Nevada.
